In January 2020, I knew nothing about constructing a website. I wasn’t even aware of WordPress, which is a popular website hosting platform. It wasn’t until my dad asked me if I could create a website for his business.
I took the initiative to learn the basics of HTML, CSS, and Javascript. Understanding it helped me tremendously in constructing a website using tools like WordPress. Although I published the website, it wasn’t great, and I’m not a total fan of it since it has several issues that I didn’t resolve correctly.
Early in 2021, dad asked me if I can help maintain and make improvements to the current website. I knew that the website needed some rebuilding, and I looked forward to the opportunity to improve the site. However, I didn’t know where to start until I reached out to a friend who recently established a web development and marketing agency called Ta-Da Studios.
Throughout my time with Ta-Da Studios, I’ve learned how to use Webflow. Unlike WordPress, Webflow allows you to customize everything within a website to your taste. It’s a web builder, yet one has complete customization control. Although Webflow is a no-coding platform, it still requires an understanding of how websites are structured at the foundation level.
Building websites are one thing. However, to make a website effectively communicate with users in superb UI and UX is another thing, and it’s much more challenging. In a nutshell, if a user can easily understand the content and assets and not require thinking, it’s a good web design. Otherwise, it isn’t a good web design, and it can frustrate and lose a potential customer.
I have learned many things, and my dad’s business website is much improved, but there’s always so much more left to learn.
